This is the studio of traditional terra cotta Tuscan potter, Mario Mariani.  These large pots are completely handbuilt from coils that he applies while walking backwards in a ring around the vessel.  the ridges that you see are the contours of his hand.  His studio is hundreds of years old and truly looks like it is from the middle ages.  I couldn’t resist getting a shot of some of his tools because the controlled wreckage reminds me of my own studio back home….
